About the Book:
She’s the only woman he’s ever loved, and the one he could never have…
Years after losing one of their best friends to a dare gone wrong, Devlin “Dare” Whiskey continues to live up to his name, endlessly testing fate, while Billie Mancini buried the best parts of herself. Billie is beautiful and tough, and battling demons Dare has no idea exist. But Dare is done watching her pretend to be something she’s not and takes on his most important challenge yet—showing the woman he loves that some dares are worth the risk.
My Review:
Melissa Foster's books have it all!
1. Wonderful stories
2. Beautiful prose
3. Intelligent, caring, and independent characters
4. Emotions that bleed off the pages
5. And the hottest covers
The Trouble with Whiskey took my breath away. Two former best friends, destroyed by the past, reunited in the present, with such hope for the future. Dare and Billie are some of my new favorite second-chance romance characters. Billie changed after the death of their best friend. She crawled inside herself, tried to leave her feelings for Dare behind, and harbors guilt that threatens to destroy her. Dare also changed. His recklessness almost increased to the point of no return. He's tried everything to get through to Billie, including leaving her alone but he can't. It's impossible. She's his and he's hers whether she cares to admit it not.
I was pulled into Billie and Dare's story. Rich in backstory, the reader sees exactly how Billie and Dare reached the point they are at currently. I was captivated by their personalities, interactions, and bond. I love them together, their banter and strength, and how the author wove them together.
The secondary characters were supportive, protective, and fun to meet and spend time with. Their close-knit relationships, strong family ties, and real-life like characters round out this exceptional book. The author wrote a realistic book filled with romance, banter and wit, drama, humor, and emotion.
Melissa Foster is my go-to for anything romantic. I read anything I can get my grabby hands on. As I discovered her later rather than sooner, I have a lot to catch up on and I can't wait to dive in to everything I've missed.
I was provided a copy of this book to read.
