The Gravedigger’s Son
Well, more of the same troubles, but things escalated rapidly one fateful weekend, and his life had never been the same. His relationship with the elfin queen—his descriptor—had never been the same. The fact that he thought about her every day, craved her every day, meant nothing. He’d hurt her. Physically. Emotionally. Psychologically. There was no going back. And in all the years since, in all the towns and all the bars and all the women, he’d never met anyone who compared to the ethereal creature known as Amber Kowalski.
Memories of You
“You and me,” he says. “Forever. Call it a relationship because it is one. Call it friends with benefits, because you are the best friend I will ever have, and if you’ll have me, the last lover I’ll ever have, too.”
My heart flutters, and my hand flies to my mouth. “Is this a proposal?”
“Yes. No. I don’t know. Is it?”
I laugh. “No,” I say, feeling giddy enough that I could float on air. “I want to date first. But why don’t we call it a promise?”
“Baby, I will promise you the world if you want it.”
I shake my head, then feel warm tears on my cheeks as he pulls me even closer. “God, Renly, don’t you get it? I never wanted the world. All I’ve ever really wanted is you.”
More Than Possess You
But I am, because no matter how familiar Echo is, I’ll never look at her the same.
This morning, I notice things about her I never have. Though she’s all woman, her long, dark lashes brush round cheeks that are almost girlish. Her lips are rosy, the bottom one heavy and pouty when it parts slightly, as if in unspoken invitation. Her bare shoulder is dotted with two tiny freckles, which peek out above the crisp white sheet covering the rest of her body. Not that it does any good. Last night, I saw her. I felt her. And I remember her—every detail. I don’t know how I’ll forget.
We can’t ever go back to being just friends. I’m not sure I want to.
Securing Jane
How long they sat like that she wasn’t sure, but she felt more connected to Storm than she’d ever felt with another man. Ever. It should’ve scared her. Hell, they hadn’t even really kissed or spent much time together, but he’d shown by his actions that he wasn’t like the boys she’d dated in the past. He was a grown-ass man, an honorable one. One she was desperate to get to know intimately.
My Review:
From Friends to Forever is an awesome collection of 4 novellas by 4 amazing authors.
As a longtime fan of Darynda Jones, I loved getting back into the world of Charlie Davidson with The Gravedigger’s Son. The reunion between Amber and Quentin was sweet and clearly long overdue. I mourned for their lost relationship as I read about Quentin's life and how their separation affected Amber. Five years is a lot of time to lose with someone you love.
Renley and Abby's story in Memories of You is hot, spicy, and delicious. I loved their story. They pick right up where they left off but a bit more steam. This is the first story I've read from the Stark Security series, and it will not be the only one. I've already added every book from the series to my TBR on Goodreads.
I'm still reading More Than Possess You and Securing Jane but be rest assured, I've added all the books from each series to my TBR.
I was provided a copy of this book. This does not affect
my opinion of the book or the content of my review. The opinions I have
