Jum & Muz is the story of the 20 years of the frustration and desolation of Alzheimers disease that the Mary Ellen Connelly's husband suffered. It chronicles the descent into oblivion. It explains how to cope, what they learned as a family in the hope it will help other families in dealing with Alzheimers. The author explains the symptoms and the research that is now available. As the primary caregiver she explains her feelings, her attempts to deal with the onslaught and some of the things that worked and things that didn't work. Connelly explains the frustration of the refusal of the insurance companies and how she dealt with them.
About the Author:
Mary Ellen Connelly grew up in Montana, attended local schools. She served 5 terms in the Montana House of Representatives on the Appropriations & Budget committee. She was appointed chair of the long-range planning sub-committee. She lives in California on the Calaveras River.

different situations differently. This story will show you how I reacted to
mine. There is a significant message that I must tell. The story is true, but I
have changed the names of the people involved to protect their privacy.

I have heard it said that we are products of our environment. If that is the case, I consider myself in my own microclimate. Choices between right and wrong must be made, especially at one's crossroads. If it doesn't feel right, it is probably wrong. I try to think outside the box, even though I have felt like I have been trapped inside one. I live for life and the excitement it brings each day. I try to not let the events of the past cloud my experiences, even though there is still some residual effect. Learning and growing from my experiences is my ultimate goal, as well as to share those experiences with others. I am elated to share this story with you. I hope it will bring a sense of assurance that no matter what your situation brings, answers can be found if you look for them.
