#BookReview ~ Snowy Surprises in the Highlands by Lisa Hobman ~ @rararesources @BoldwoodBooks

Snowy Surprises in the Highlands

About the Book:

Magic happens when you least expect it…

Bella Douglas is living her dream life on the Isle of Skye but misses her friends at Drumblair Castle. She has the love of her life by her side, Granny Isla just up the road and has landed a big job to renovate the interior of a gorgeous Victorian hotel for an American client. What could possibly go wrong?

When Bella's new client sends their son to project manage the hotel renovation, things take an unexpected turn for the worse. Ex-model Carlton Somers has set his sights on Bella and doesn’t seem to understand the word ‘no’. But her relationship with Harris is rock solid; nothing can break that foundation … can it?

Meanwhile Granny Isla’s ‘friendship’ with her neighbour Tam Guthrie is going from strength to strength but when drama hits Pabay View Residential Home Bella’s life is quickly sent into a tailspin.

What will it take to get her life back on track?

And can she ever find time to focus on her own happiness and future?

My Review:

Snowy Surprises in the Highlands is a charming story taking place on the Isle of Skye. Bella has a lot going on in her life. The author takes Bella through some heavy situations. The story ebbs and flows between heartwarming and heartbreaking. There is chaos that has Bella questioning the current renovation she is overseeing, navigating her relationship with Harris after a blast from his past returns, and dealing with the revelation of secrets and antics of family members.

I really enjoy the author's writing style and how everything came together by the end of the story. The synopsis pulled me into the story from the beginning and the characters, events, and themes kept thoroughly engaged. The characters are well-written, 3-dimensional, and complex. The author wove a masterpiece together, filled with romance, love, anxious moments, tenderness, frustration, and disbelief. I was captivated by this wonderful story.

#BookReview ~ Shooting Stars Over the Highlands by Lisa Hobman ~ @LisaJHobmanAuth @rararesources #Romance

Shooting Stars Over the Highlands

About the Book:

What would you wish for if you had one chance?

Esme Cassidy had two dreams growing up: to be a famous film star, and to own Drumblair Castle.

Sadly, overly cautious parents put paid to a career in front of the camera, instead encouraging her to study towards a ‘proper job’, and Lady Olivia MacBain is the current custodian of ‘her castle’.

After graduating and a year travelling, Esme returns home broken-hearted and throws herself into her new role as Lady Olivia’s PA at Drumblair Castle. It’s not quite her original dream but at least she’s living at the castle in one of the estate cottages with her housemate and friend, handsome, yet quirky, groundsman Judd.

With the news that the castle will be used as a film set for a period movie, Esme gets to witness first-hand the career she missed out on. And with her teenage crush in the starring role, she can’t believe her luck. But he wouldn’t be interested in a girl like her, surely?

My Review:

Shooting Stars Over the Highlands is the fourth book in the The Highlands series by Lisa Hobman.

Esme Cassidy is healing from the end of a relationship and finds herself the new PA at Drumblair Castle. Not the job she's always dreamed of, Esme at least gets to live in the castle that's fascinated her for her entire life. She also meets Judd, the castle groundskeeper who also has a room for rent. Then, when Drumblair Castle becomes the setting for an upcoming movie, Esme gets to witness the career she didn't get to explore, and meet her crush. So many potential love matches for Esme.

Shooting Stars Over the Highlands is an emotionally rich novel. The story between the pages is a heartwarming contemporary romance. I enjoyed coming back to Drumblair Castle and meeting Esme. She, along with everyone in the book, is well-written, 3-dimensional, and complex.

I enjoyed the author's writing style, the story, and how everything came together. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and kept thoroughly engaged. The author wove a masterpiece together, filled with romance, love, anxious moments, tenderness, and frustration. I was captivated by this wonderful story.

In 2012 my family and I relocated from England to our favourite place in the world, Scotland, and we are now happily ensconced in village life. The stunning location was the inspiration for my writing career and so it's only right that it features in all of my books.

I'm a happily married mum of one with two energetic dogs who make cameo appearances in some of my books. I love writing and creating new characters and now have the pleasure of owning my own bookshop.

#Review ~ A Highland Family Affair by Lisa Hobman ~ @LisaJHobmanAuth @rararesources @BoldwoodBooks #Romance

A Highland Family Affair

About the Book:

Can people ever really change or are family ties always set to unravel?

After inheriting Drumblair Castle over her older brother Kerr, Lady Olivia MacBain has had to forge a new life for herself far away from New York and her dream career in fashion. She fears her brother’s bitterness has fractured their relationship to the point of no return and is still clearing away the devastation he left when he disappeared.

Kerr’s unexpected return and supposed change of heart raises eyebrows. He is now seeking forgiveness and to rebuild the bridges he previously wrecked, but can he be trusted, or is it all just smoke and mirrors?

While her friends are settling down, Olivia patiently waits for childhood sweetheart Brodie to propose and wonders if she will ever get her happy ever after.

Can Olivia find a happy future or are promises always made to be broken?

My Review:

A Highland Family Affair is the third book in The Highlands series by Lisa Hobman.

Lady Olivia inherits Drumblair Castle, leaving her brother Kerr bitter, vengeful, and full of spite. After his latest attempt to sabotage Olivia's plans to continue Drumblair Castle's legacy, he disappears. He left behind a damaged relationship with Olivia, and the chaos he caused, in his wake.

When Kerr returns suddenly, disheveled, soaked to the bone, and a mess, Olivia is torn. She knows she can't turn Kerr away, but his appearance back at Drumblair Castle is met with skepticism, apprehension, and distrust. He claims to be sorry and hitting rock bottom opened his eyes, but Oliva isn't so sure.

I enjoyed the author's writing style, the story, and how everything came together. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and kept thoroughly engaged. The characters are well-written, 3-dimensional, and complex. The author wove a masterpiece together, filled with romance, love, anxious moments, tenderness, frustration, and disbelief. I was captivated by this wonderful story.

#Review ~ Chasing a Highland Dream by Lisa Hobman ~ @LisaJHobmanAuth @rararesources #Romance @BoldwoodBooks

Chasing a Highland Dream

Can you live your dreams and also find your destiny?

About the Book:

Since having to drop out of her design degree, Bella Douglas has been unlucky in just about everything life has thrown at her. She’s lost more jobs than she cares to remember and to top it off she’s still single, despite her Granny Isla’s best attempts to set her up with every eligible bachelor in the Scottish Highlands. Currently PA to her best friend, aka, Lady Olivia MacBain, at Drumblair Castle, Bella is yet to find a role that sets her soul on fire. But when disaster strikes for Olivia, Bella steps into the breach to rescue her bestfriend from a fate worse than a bad interior designer.

When Bella and her Granny find themselves homeless, they relocate to the castle where a handsome new neighbour brings mystery, intrigue and a spark of romance.

Is Bella finally on the track to find true happiness? Or do more catastrophes lie ahead? And does true love hide where you least expect it?

My Review:

Chasing a Highland Dream is the second book in the The Highlands series by Lisa Hobman.

Chasing a Highland Dream is an emotionally-rich novel. The characters are well-written, 3-dimensional, and complex. I enjoyed Bella and the way the author portrayed her character. She is sensitive, loving, strong, and determined. I love how she puts herself out there when Olivia's design firm backs out of a contract.

I enjoyed the author's writing style, the story, and how everything came together. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and kept thoroughly engaged. The author wove a masterpiece together, filled with romance, love, anxious moments, tenderness, frustration, and disbelief. I was captivated by this wonderful story.

Newly Release Book #Review ~ Together Under a Snowy Skye by Lisa Hobman @LisaJHobmanAuth @rararesources

Together Under a Snowy Skye

About the Book:

After the heartbreak of a secret unrequited love, Millie Treadaway has finally found someone to spend her life with. Harry Rose is handsome, successful and treats her like a princess. That is until Millie presents her fiancé with a surprise birthday gift, and their future is suddenly doomed.

Eight months later Millie returns to Glentorrin on the Isle of Skye for her best friend Jules’ Christmas wedding. Heartbroken, single and heavily pregnant.

Staying in Lifeboat Cottage with Jules’ brother, kindhearted Dexter, she’s given up on love and resigned herself to be the best single Mum ever.

But a shock phone call from Harry leaves her reeling and doubting herself and her decisions.

Do second chances work? Or is Dexter, right? That she deserves much more?

Can the festive spirit in Glentorrin, and a little stray Jack Russell terrier, heal her heart?

Or is she fated to remain a member of the lonely-hearts club forever?

My Review:

When Millie surprises her fiancé with the news of pregnancy, things don't go as she planned. The life they should be building together crumbles down around her feet. Harry doesn't want kids and wasn't man enough to tell her. Not ever expecting pregnancy, Harry does a lot of blaming, guilting, and attempting to convince Millie of alternate options. Having had enough, the only thing Millie terminates is her relationship with Harry.

Fast-forward eight months and Millie is on her way to Isle of Skye for her best friend's upcoming wedding. Jules is getting married Christmas Eve and, pregnant or not, Millie wouldn't miss the celebration for the world. She stays in a cottage with Jules' brother Dexter and acclimates to her new, but temporary lifestyle. One away from her ex, his family, and her life, where Millie still tries to come to terms with being a single mom.

Harry's unexpected phone call has her twisted up in knots. She wonders if she did the right thing by leaving Harry. His sudden persistence has Millie second-guessing all the decisions she's made since the day she announced her pregnancy. Now she's wondering if second chances are possible or if she should move on from Harry.

Together Under a Snowy Skye is an emotionally-rich holiday novel. The characters are well-written, 3-dimensional, and complex. I enjoyed Millie and the way the author portrayed her character. She is sensitive, loving, strong, and determined. She is emotional, self-doubting, and scared. I love how she gets into Glentorrin and fits right in with all of Jules' friends.

I enjoyed the author's writing style, the story she told, and how everything came together. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and kept thoroughly engaged. The author wove a masterpiece together, filled with romance, love, anxious moments, tenderness, frustration, and disbelieve. I was captivated by this wonderful story. This is my first novel by Lisa Hobman and it won't be my last.
