About the Book:

The only thing Destiny knows is her name, but who's complaining? She lives in a beautiful million-dollar seaside chalet without a care in the world. At least until a psychic shows up at her front door claiming Destiny's true identity is remarkable. She must remember who she is. What she's meant to do. If that isn't enough, her house isn't her own, and her fate tied to a man in the distant past. A fierce, brooding Viking who's too arrogant for his own good yet sinfully alluring.

Leviathan doesn't believe in love, so the woman he saved shouldn't be haunting his thoughts. Especially considering they barely got along. Yet now, thanks to the fire he used to keep Destiny alive, the feisty, stunning redhead is put in his path once more. Worse yet, she might be the foretold Sigdir who sparks the next Great War. That means she must die by his blade once and for all.

Will Leviathan be able to sacrifice Destiny to save everyone? Or is it already too late, and she's found her way into a heart he didn't know he had? Find out as they embark on an epic dragon shifter romance adventure across time in Viking Ancestors: Forged in Fire.

Excerpt #1- not steamy

As dumbfounded as she’d been when she saw it from afar, Destiny looked up at the castle towering over her. It wasn’t a typical Viking structure but something more sinister yet somehow alluring. Blackened wall walks curved around dozens of towers, and spires shot toward the sky.

“Though he calls it the Realm’s, welcome to what everyone calls Leviathan’s Keep behind his back,” Freya informed. “Because he does so much for us. Gives us safe harbor.” She grinned. “He built it to Múspellsheimr standards to make its dragons feel welcome. All dragons, for that matter.” She glanced at Leviathan with pride. “It’s seen many battles over the years as dragons grew into their own, but in the end, it’s always been a place of resolution and accord. A place where dragons can act like themselves among their own kind.”

“Impressive.” She meant it too. This place was something else.

She eyed people as they made their way toward an ancient-looking grand staircase leading to a behemoth door flagged by massive torches. Though everyone looked normal enough, Viking to the bone, she could feel the fluctuating animalistic energy in the air. Leviathan nodded at many in passing but said little, his expression hard though his eyes were cordial enough.

“It might be safe, but he still doesn’t want them out in this unnatural weather, does he?” she murmured. “He’s worried about them.”

“Every hour of every day of every year,” Freya said softly. “Endlessly.” Her knowing gaze slid Destiny’s way. “Not many see that so clearly.” She considered her. “Or better put, feel it.”

“My necklace then?” Destiny hadn't missed the shocked glances that went from her face to her collar. Again, she felt the urge to yank it off, declaring her independence, and again, just as swiftly, wanted it right where it was.

“You know better than to ask me that.” Freya stuck close, making it clear to all they were allies. Friends despite having just met. “You knew Leviathan better than most before I put that necklace on you.”

“Perhaps,” she murmured, but Freya was right. Whatever had happened between them had bonded them together in a way she knew damn well he struggled with. She struggled with.

Yet it had happened.

Was part of them.

And it was locking them together more readily than a collar ever could.

The inside of the castle took her breath away with its stark, towering, regal yet gothic beauty. A massive octagonal great hall led to several long, spiraling staircases going in different directions, rising up so high she wondered if there were an end in sight. Endless cathedral-like stained glass windows depicting sweeping dragons were made more magnificent by the shimmering ash beyond.

“Look at this place,” she whispered in awe, not sure what to admire first.

Four behemoth hearths hosted roaring fires, and huge bowls of fire hung like chandeliers as high as the eye could see. The air smelled of smoke, lust, and roasting meat.

“It used to reek of sulfur too,” Freya said out of the corner of her mouth, “but Leviathan whipped things into shape and taught this bunch how to get their dragon breath under control.”

She bit back a smile. “Glad to hear that.”

Everyone might appear Viking with fur cloaks and pagan looks, but there was no mistaking the fire flaring in many a cat-like eye. Dragons peered back at her with such strong curiosity she knew her collar had made a big impact.

Where Leviathan had remained in front of them to this point, now he fell in beside Destiny. Not to introduce her but rather, from what she could tell, to claim his territory. There was no grand introduction that a time traveler had arrived but rather a pointed sweep from his stormy gaze, lingering on select group of males before he gestured that she follow him.

“Seriously?” she said under her breath to Freya. “Was that Leviathan’s way of welcoming me?”

“Yes.” Freya chuckled and linked arms with her, again making it clear to all they were friends. “And I’ve never seen him do it. Not once with anyone.” She winked. “Let alone a woman branded by his scale.”

“Ah, so that’s the official name for wearing this around my neck?” She snorted. “Sounds like ownership if I didn’t know better.”

“But you do know better,” Freya reminded. “You know this is all for show because you and Leviathan don’t do forever.”

Read Excerpt #2:

He yanked off his boots then undressed, looking forward to bathing. In fact, he was just about to lower into the water when Fionna didn’t bother knocking but strode right in only to stop short. Her eyes rounded and swept over him, lingering on his cock before she turned her head.
“Apologies,” she said over her shoulder. “I thought ye’d be in by now.”
Had she really? Because her clanswoman had not been gone all that long.
“’Tis nothing ye havenae seen before,” he reminded, aroused despite himself as he lowered into the water. Having her so close whilst he wore no clothing made him want to toss her on the bed and sample what had been long gone from him.
“’Tis something I didnae want to see again, though,” she muttered, flat-out lying. So said the catch of her breath and the way she peeked when she thought he wasn’t looking.
“Have ye more water for me?” he asked, letting her know he was submerged.
“Aye.” She poured it in, clearly trying to remain focused on his face. “Now, sit forward so I can remove yer bandage.”
He did as asked, noting how her hands trembled ever-so-slightly as she removed it.
“It looks good.” She inspected the scratch, nodding. “After ye wash it, I will apply a poultice and rewrap it.”
“Ye mean after ye wash it,” he said softly. “All of me, for that matter.”
Her gaze snapped to his face and held before she seemed to gather herself. While he thought he had her for a moment, he should have known better.
“Ye’re out of yer bloody mind if ye think that’s happening, MacLauchlin.” She tossed him a cloth. “See to yerself, then I will return and take care of yer wound.”
“I will see to myself.” She would meet him halfway, though. “But ye will stay.”
“’Tis indecent.”
“I think we both know the moment ye intercepted the lass who filled my bath ye didnae care much about decency.” He began washing. “Ye know how people talk. Especially, I imagine, when it comes to the Taylor chieftain seeing to the MacLauchlin laird's personal needs. And with them undoubtedly knowing about our past.”
“Most dinnae recall such.” Rather than turn away, she leaned against the wall, crossed her arms over her chest, and kept her gaze on him. “’Twas a long time ago, Keenan.”
“Aye, but gossip such as what ye and I shared stays on the tongue for generations,” he assured, because it truly felt like a lifetime ago. Or at least it had until she walked into his castle again. Until he walked into this holding.
“We shared nothing worth gossiping over in the end, though.” Fionna shrugged. “I think mayhap ‘tis just arrogance on yer part.” She shook her head. “The only curiosity ye bring with ye now is the fact ye’re the enemy and holding my brother hostage.”
“But not wee Dougal,” he reminded. “Something it seems yer clan is grateful enough for.” He eyed her, curious how far he could push her. “Or so I assume based on the more than gracious offer I received from the bonny lass who filled my bath.”
Her chin jutted forward a wee bit. “An offer I am sure ye misinterpreted.”
“Nay.” He made a point of thinking about it before he shook his head. “I dinnae think so.”
“Are ye saying my clanswomen are wenches, then?” she bit back, her temper getting the best of her far faster than he anticipated. Which told him she had intercepted the lass, knowing full well such an offer was likely made.
“Nay, not wenches.” He continued washing and nudged her temper along, if for no other reason than to fan the flames of her jealousy. “For I am fairly certain she didnae expect payment for her services.” He winked at her. “Well, anything except a good—”
“Finish washing so I can see to ye.” Her eyebrows slammed together. “I have other things to see to…people to attend to.”
As she no doubt intended, the way she said it made him tense. While it was one thing to taunt her with what he might do with her clanswoman, it was another thing entirely to envision Fionna doing the same with a man. Because there had been plenty of men her age about. Then, of course, the one who rarely left her side.
Tavish.
He knew what Dougal said, but he was just a boy, not savvy to the way men and women worked. And Fionna had hinted last night at just how close she and Tavish really were.
“Aye?” He tried to remain nonchalant when all he could picture was her bedding Tavish. Rage flared that had no place in this situation. In what he must accomplish. Yet, despite his best efforts, he could not leave it alone. “And what people will ye be attending to, Chieftain Taylor?”
“’Tis none of yer concern.” Based on her taunting expression, she knew what kind of effect she was having on him. “It stopped being yer concern a long time ago.”
Had it, then? Aye, he preached to himself.
Yet, he kept pushing.

Read an Excerpt:

He had her figured out. But of course, he did. He was her best friend. “How did you get that out of everything I just said?”
“Actually, I’ve sensed it for quite some time now.” He remained perfectly blunt. “When you opened the door tonight, I knew you felt just as strongly as me.”
“You don’t know that.”
“But I do.”
“How?”
“Your heart for starters.” His eyes twinkled. “’Twas about pounding out of your chest.”
“Maybe I’d been dancing...” yeah, right, so weak, “with my friends.”
The corner of his mouth shot up. “To Christmas music?”
“It can be upbeat.”
“You hate dancing.”
“I hate sucking at dancing.”
“You dinnae suck at dancing.”
“Oh, but I do.”
“You just havenae had the right partner.”
“We’re talking about upbeat dancing,” she reminded.
“Nay, we’re talking about you trying to do what you think is the right thing,” he replied. “Pushing me away when all you really want to do is find out what it would be like…at last.”
He was way too on to her. Yet what precisely was he referring to? It sounded like they might be off the topic of dancing and on to something else. “Being cryptic like your father again, I see.”
“You know what I’m talking about.”
Definitely not dancing. Right?
“No clue.” But she could imagine so very, very well.
“You want to know what it would feel like to dance with me.” His tone dropped to a sexy octave that about curled her toes. “Then, mayhap more.”
“Definitely not interested in dancing,” she lied then grabbed at anything she could. “Okay, I’m just gonna give it to you straight.” She thought fast and came up with the perfect argument. “I think your magic going all wonky has you struggling for normalcy, something dependable, and that’s always been me. So you’re latching on to what makes you feel like you still have control over things.”
“Latching on?” he murmured, his gaze all smoldering-bedroom-eyes now. “Good idea.” His magic wasn’t so wonky that he couldn’t flick a wrist and turn the music up. Before she darted away, he reeled her close. “You’re right. Latching on to you does make me feel better.” His eyes met hers. “In control, as you say.”
This was so not a good idea. Stay strong. Step away. Think of Scotland. All the lives depending on him. You’re his voice of reason. Yet, just like it had when he embraced her earlier, all logic fled the moment she was in his arms. Her inner self-coach threw in the towel at the feel of his hard body. At the look in his gorgeous eyes.
She was in way over her head here.
Scratch that. She’d already drowned.
“You are not entirely right, though, Jules,” he murmured, tilting her chin until her eyes didn’t stray from his. As if they ever would. “This doesnae feel normal in the least.”
Had she mentioned normal at some point? Because she agreed, this felt anything but. She felt electrified, on fire, like the room—no, the whole house—was fading away. All that existed was him. His hot as hell face, his eyes, lips, the tiny braids in his hair, the plaid wrapped over his broad shoulder…
“Oh, no,” she exclaimed, realizing too late he’d pulled her right into his web.
The room was really gone.

Read an Excerpt:

Soren led her into a cozy nook beneath a pine with a moss covered trunk. The intimate area had a cave of sorts carved into a monstrous rock on one side. Pine branches hung to the ground on the other. Like all places in the Realm, soft verdant grass grew where it shouldn’t. Not that she was complaining as she sat and looked up.

“I used to enjoy sitting beneath the trees at my home in Lake Placid,” she mentioned, steering the conversation away from intimacy. “Then I went off to college and never got around to sitting under one again.”

He lit a fire and sat beside her. “It is peaceful, yes?”

“It really is,” she murmured. “Funny, maybe a small part of me was trying to bring that sense of peace to the rest of the world.”

“By the sounds of it, you did.”

“Here and there.” Not when it mattered most, though.

“I would like to it see someday,” he said softly. “Your life…what you accomplished.”

“You mean, look through my mind’s eye.” She tensed at the thought. It was one thing catching her thoughts, but to let him all the way in would mean him seeing first-hand the atrocities she had caused. “Maybe eventually.”

“When you are ready,” he agreed. “Though it might happen against your will as it has for some of our kin.”

“I know.” She met his eyes. “I guess I just want to put it off for as long as possible.” She shook her head, realizing it was for more reasons than one. “Not just for me but for you.”

“You are afraid of the way I will look at you. That it will damage the way my dragon looks at yours, the connection they are so desperate for.” He shook his head. “But it will not, Ava. It cannot.”

“You don’t know that.”

“I do, though. As I said before, my dragon can only lend yours comfort and protect it,” he said softly. “Letting me and my dragon in will not push us away but pull us closer. It will allow us to soak up some of your pain…to help you find self-forgiveness.”

“How can you know that when you’ve never had a mate?”

“Because I have had a mate.” He brushed the back of his knuckles along her jaw. “You.” He searched her eyes. “Surely, you feel the growing connection. The intense bond.”

“You know I do,” she whispered because she couldn’t quite find her voice. “Only our growing connection isn’t giving me a sense of confidence. Instead, I feel like I’m drawing closer to unbearable pain.” While she meant to keep it to herself, her inner dragon prompted her tongue along. “I keep getting this nagging feeling I’m going to lose you now that I’ve found you.”

“You cannot let that stand in your way,” he said gently. “Instead, you have to trust it, allow the connection. In that, you will find peace.”

“How do you know?”

“Because I already feel it.” His fingers trailed down the side of her neck, causing a fresh spike of heat. “While yes, there is great risk, there is also certainty that this is eternal. That the connection we made on Múspellsheimr is ours for all time.” He tilted her chin until their eyes were aligned. “Our dragons will always find their way back to each other, Ava. So even if you lose me in this life, there will be another. I will return to you.”

He certainly had a way with words, didn’t he? But they were true words said from his heart. She could see it in his eyes. Sense it in his soul. More than that, she could feel it in his tender touch.

“How did you and Helga meet, anyway?” Tess began walking again. “Or did you grow up together?”
He seemed relieved to speak of lighter things as he joined her. “I met Helga when visiting an allied tribe.” The corner of his mouth inched up. “She was dancing the first time I saw her.”
How ironic. “Do you like dancing then?”
“I did after I met her.” His crooked grin grew a little. “I was very clumsy, but she didn’t seem to mind.”
“Clumsy?” She chuckled. “But you’re a dragon! We’re the epitome of grace.”
“In dragon form,” he agreed. “But I was not so graceful in human form.”
She arched her brows and eyed him. “So you dance well now?”
“I dance…less poorly.”
She chuckled again, detecting a bit of humor lurking beneath all his baggage. “So you saw Helga dancing. Then what?”
“I waited until she was done dancing then approached her.” His gaze went to the trees swaying in the wind. “She continually tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, but the wind kept blowing it across her face as she smiled at me for the first time.” He absently rubbed his fingers together as though he remembered what her hair felt like. “Eventually, I tucked it back for her.”
“Funny the things we remember,” Tess murmured, rubbing her fingers together as well. “I recall the feel of Axle’s leather jacket, the scent of cigar smoke clinging to it. That was my first thought when we finally started chatting. He smoked cigars, and I smoked cigarettes back then…bad combo…mostly cuz I hate the smell of cigars.” She shook her head and spoke without thinking. “I should’ve known then we were a match made in Hell.”
“I don’t smoke anything,” he divulged, wonderfully frank. “But I enjoy drinking.”
“Me too,” she echoed then relented. “Though I might’ve leaned on it a little too heavily lately.” She shrugged a shoulder, not about to apologize. “Or not. Who knows.”
“We all cope with things how we will.” He sounded unapologetic. “I have barely spoken to my kin over the past two years and as you know, shut them out entirely telepathically…until recently.”
“Right,” she said. “Because of me?”
“So it seems,” he conceded. “Yours was the first voice I’ve heard in my head in a long time. Once that happened, it seemed natural to allow my kin back in.”
“Well, I’m glad to hear that,” she said. “And for what it’s worth, I’m sorry I busted into your mind without permission.” She met his eyes, guilty though she had no choice. “I had no control over it.”
“You mean your dragon took over?”
“I assume so,” she replied. “Considering we’re supposedly fated mates, right?”
He nodded and looked at her with hesitation, clearly wondering if he should say what he was thinking.
“What is it, Rokar?” she asked. When he started to shake his head, she urged him on. “You’re the one who said we needed to start somewhere so don’t hold back.”
He hesitated another moment before he relented. “I did not mind.”
“Didn’t mind what?” she prompted when he didn’t go on.
Struggling, he finally said, “You…”
She almost grinned. Was he being bashful? “Me?”
“Yes, you,” he stated bluntly.
She couldn’t help another chuckle as she tried to draw him out. “Me, what, Rokar?”
“You.” He sighed and looked at her like she should know what he was talking about. “I was glad you entered my mind without permission.”
He went to say more but snapped his mouth shut, evidently finished sharing. At least in this regard.
“I’m glad too,” she revealed and meant it. “I like the feel of you within my mind.”
The minute she said it she regretted it mostly because it sounded like she was undermining Helga and she hadn’t meant to do that.
“You do?”
His question caught her off guard. “Of course.”
Had Helga rattled his confidence that badly? While typically she’d find that unattractive in a man, preferring a tough-as-nails sort, she knew deep down Rokar was plenty tough. He was just wounded and vulnerable in a way she understood. So she stopped and told him something a woman should have told him long before her. She gave it to him straight.
In fact, her dragon gave it to him even straighter.
“You sound amazing in a woman’s mind, Rokar,” she said. “Your inner voice is wanna-spread-my-thighs-for-you sexy, and your essence is wrap-around-the soul warm fuzzies, all ‘the feels,’ protective. Not to mention—”
That’s all she got out before he proved he did, in fact, possess a good deal of confidence.
He yanked her close and kissed her hard.
