About the Book:

In her darkest moment, he came willing to burn the world down for her.

During one night of weakness, Adder Rowe gave in to some sweet words, and has a lot of complications in her life to show for it. Now pregnant, she is eking by. But even before that, her ties to CypherSphere Records and Of Ashes To Eternity had left a bad taste in her mouth and an uneasy feeling in her heart.

Renley Titan isn’t anyone’s hero. A chance meeting with his Tether, when she reaches out to his former band, leaves him in a dicey position. Play the game and keep winning the hearts of millions, or break the rules and make the world a better place for everyone by blowing it all up. The volatile keyboardist could go either way.

But when someone comes out of the woodwork looking for a story only Adder can tell, how far will they go to get it?

Read an Excerpt:

“Yeah, I want to be safe and by his side.” I sigh. “Don’t know if it makes me a basket case, but the co-dependency portion of our relationship has begun.”

Crux lips flatten. “You need a guard.”

“What’s with the guards?” I ask.

“When your mate can’t be with you, at least you have protection,” he clarifies. “They can soothe and care for you, so you aren’t alone.”

Becca snorts. “They can irritate the shit out of you. They can insist they shower with you, so you’re protected.”

I try to hide my smile when Crux licks his lips. I get the impression that he’s got it bad for her. It’s Tobin who responds to her outburst. “You don’t need to be alone.”

She growls in frustration. “You two are tools.” Her head whips my way, “You still want to go down?”

Crux smirks. “That’s literally what she said.”

I nod and stand, but a woozy feeling takes over my sluggish body. It takes a moment to get my head together and nod. Becca, seeing how unsteady I am, addresses the twins. “One of you needs to make yourself useful. If she passes out on the way down to the living room, Renley will fuck you both in the ass with a chair leg.”

Tobin nods. “Probably the whole chair.”

He picks me up in a bridal lift, carrying me down the hall. When we get to the top of the stairs, everyone looks up our way.

Renley is the first to speak. “Why are you carrying Adder?”

Becca sighs. “She was lightheaded but wants to be with you.”

Tobin makes it down the stairs, but Renley’s on his feet waiting there to grab me. His eyes skim across my features before ghosting across my throat and heating. He carries us to a recliner closest to Jazzie, who holds out a bowl of popcorn. I cringe at the smell and shake my head, placing a hand over my stomach.

The most heartbreaking truth is finding that you aren’t the master of your own destiny.

Chapter 1

Listen, little one. I’m not going to tell you that I like the little shit, but I will tell you that you can’t continue avoiding your mate. It’s unnatural and unhealthy.” Nix tosses up a blade and catches it by its handle.

Harrison nods, not looking from the financial papers and contracts sent over from CypherSphere Records, the label that Somnolence and Grimm Fables are on. He hums. “Nix does have a point.”

“Really, Harrison? I hope you are talking about the one at the end of the knife he’s playing with.” My tone is surly but ever since I heard about this Tether nonsense, I’ve been grouchy. The way it sounds to me is, Jonah’s only with me because of some mystical mojo and not because he really and truly loves me. That’s a deal breaker. A real no-go for me, even though I yearn for him.

Harrison tsks. “I know Lilah explained Tethers to all of you. You needn’t have any more spelled out to you, do you?”

I snort like a child in response to Harrison’s comment. “I don’t believe in predestination.”

Nix smirks and laughs in a mocking way that makes me want to crawl over the table and fork him in the eye. He taps the blade on his bottom lip as he grins. “Well sure, not since it more or less was proved to exist to you. Why go with the flow when you can be a petulant child? Before all this, you were roses and hearts. ‘Jo says it’s written in the stars’ this and ‘Jo says we belong together’ that. Destiny was fine then. Now that it has meaning in the grand scheme of things… what?”

“It’s a trap, Nix,” I toss out brattily. “A great lie. A scam. We’re all just data in some part of a matrix program.”

“You watch too much Netflix,” Harrison says distractedly.

“It was on Hulu,” I correct.

Harrison slides half his grapefruit my way. “Go ahead, you clearly need some fruit, Elizabeth.”

Nix snickers.

Harrison’s phone chimes with a personal ringtone of “A Bushel and a Peck” by Doris Day announcing it’s Vivi’s mom, Leona, on the other end.

“Hello, dearest,” he answers, sounding like a lovelorn man from the past.

Nix puckers his lips blowing me a kiss and then mouthing hello dearest, before laughing.

I kick him in return. He narrows his eyes, holds up his knife and points it in my direction. It’s a KA-BAR Becker 1095 Black Harpoon Point. I got it for him as a thank you for being awesome. It would be ironic if he slipped now and cut off an appendage while acting like a fool.

I know he’d never really hurt me with it. He’s uncouth, difficult, and hates all humans except for me–he treats me like he would a priceless gift and family member.

I get up with a sigh and point his way, then do the universal sign for ‘I have eyes on you’ while heading to my room at Harrison’s. True love between adults is creepy, and I’m not hanging around to listen to the mushy gushy way Harrison talks to Leona.

The Powers That Be Series Bundle
Ali Lucia Sky
(The Powers That Be, #1-3)
Publication date: October 11th 2022
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal Romance

About the Book:

This World is just one of thousands of Worlds the Makers have created. The Universe and Makers are playing with those who live on it.

GABRIEL

No one who had met Michaela Beauchamp could come away from it unscathed. She was a shrew–argumentative, crass, and the focus of all my wet dreams. I loved to hate her. We were at war and I was determined to win. I didn’t want her to just go away, I wanted to watch her fine ass as she went in that direction.

MICHAELA

Whoever thought Gabriel Langdon was more than a pretty face never met the douchecanoe.

He had very few redeeming qualities. He was dumb, frustrating, and constantly featuring in all my sexiest dreams. I wasn’t difficult to please. I was reasonable. All I asked was that the Universe bless me with the absence of this jackhole!

THEA

What is one to do when you summon a hitchhiker and they take up residence inside your head? No fifteen-year-old girl has a good answer. With my brother and neighbor circling one another in a strange mating dance, I barely know how to ask for help.

I mean really, all I did was a little spell to Invoke Helpful Spirits and Positive Energy Beings.

Note: THE POWERS THAT BE series is a New Adult book series and for readers 18+ due to sexual content, substance abuse, reference to sexual assault, and profanity.

I barely make it to the bottom of the stairs before he is behind me. We head to the kitchen together. Tobin and Crux are there. “Can we invite Minka here?”

“Yes.”

“No!”

Trace and I disagree. I look at him and narrow my eyes.

“Yes!” I say again, this time emphatically.

“Absolutely not,” Trace reiterates.

Tobin and Crux are looking back and forth. “Well, which is it?” Tobin asks.

I yell over my shoulder for the girls and Lizzy, Lilah, Jonah, and Raiden show. “Tobin and Crux want to invite their girlfriend over, and I told them they can while the Grinch Who Wishes to be a Huge Cockblock says no. Anyone else want to chime in?”

Lizzy, Lilah and Jonah have no issue and are all for it. Raiden is for it, providing Harrison does a background check and vets her.

“Mom did a background check on her and her family when we asked if we could use our box at the symphony,” Crux says.

“You took her to the symphony?” Lizzy asks with her head canted to one side.

“You have box seats at the symphony?” Lilah asks at the same time.

“She plays violin,” Tobin supplies.

Crux smiles. “Mom says she’s good.”

“I’ll talk to mom.” Raiden pulls his phone out and heads to the other room.

Trace makes me breakfast which is oatmeal with honey and granola. By the time I’m done with it, Raiden is returning with a smile. “Minka can come over. She’s sixteen. No sex.”

Tobin sucks on his lips and then grins. “Too late. She’s not a virgin anymore.”

Publication date: June 6th 2022

About the Book:

Read an Excerpt:

Raiden walks out and slowly makes it my way, grinning. “I missed you.” He frames my face in his hands and kisses my lips softly. But his tenderness lasts only a moment before he lets his hunger bleed through. Our tongues stroke one another like it’s been forever since we were last together.

I hear everyone leave and Raiden delicately trails his hands down my arms to my hands and entwines his fingers with mine. He pulls them behind his back, so I’m embracing him.

“Fuck, little Lilac, your lips are delicious. I thought you tasted like strawberries, but you are sweeter.” He nibbles on my lower lip, licks my upper lip and I moan. His thigh slips between mine, and I rock into him. It feels so good. His head drops to my throat. “Can I leave my own mark right here? Something on you that isn’t from pain and punishment? Something from worship and adoration?”

I nod.

“Mmmm.” He hums. “Such a perfect flower.” He licks my throat and presses a chain of kisses down my collarbone before pressing his thigh between mine and sucks. I moan at how good it feels.

When he lifts his head, he brushes his lips over it once, twice and a third time. “I dream of you. I dream of having you under me. Our bare flesh together. You go off for me like a firework and light up my night. One day, I’m going to save you from your monsters and deliver you from the hell you live in. All my songs will be yours, a million lullabies, for my queen. Then I’m going to spread your thighs, crawl between them and fuck every care you have away.”

He presses his lips to mine again, as if sealing his words with a kiss.

“Enough, Raiden. There is probably paparazzi taking photos of you two right now, you dumb fucker. Do you want them to see Layla’s face looking soft and loved up like that? Protect her, do that shit inside!” Jonah scolds from the door to the house.

The fog of passion passes.

But I have my confirmation. Real Raiden can kiss like dream Raiden.

I’m falling fast.

I’m falling hard.

This is happening way too soon.

“I don’t even like y’all fuckers anymore,” Gwen harrumphs. “You’re annoying, Lex. I really hate that Mickey’s a better mean girl than me when she wants to be. She can’t do that. That’s my role. And I hate that Thea just walked in here and stole everyone away–except Megan, and let’s be honest, she’s the booby prize.” She slaps her hands on her lap and looks miserable. “I guess I’ll notify AAMU of my acceptance. My dad’s going to have a shitfit that we can’t get the application fee back from PUH. I’ll start looking at Gen-Ed courses tonight.”

She stands and stretches. “I hate you, you horrid fuck, Lexa. I really hope y’all are worth it. Now press them titties against mine!” She opens her arms. “Bring it in, Penby.”

I smirk and move in for a hug.

“Nothing feels better than girl tits against girl tits.” She snuggles in closer and presses her face against mine. “Well, I guess that isn’t true. But it is the best thing you can do with a girl with her clothes on.” Gwen murmurs in my ear wiggling to hug me tighter, pushing her knee between mine and her thigh into the juncture of my thighs. “You’re soft, Penby.”

“You’re a hair away from a sexual assault, Lapsley,” I say laughing. “But, thanks. The boobs are wasted on me. No one has touched them other than me and an occasional accidental grope from Michaela during her sleep, in a not sexy way.”

Gwen pulls back far enough for us to be nose to nose. “You really didn’t fuck that hot motherfucker?”

I shake my head. Gwen hugs me again and wiggles suggestively against me. “I will totally pity fuck you, Lex.”

I close my eyes tight and shake with laughter. Pulling away I hold up a hand, “No need, I’m good.”

Gwen grabs my hand. “It’s not a new thing for me. I’m good at it. Bi-wonderous even. I’m fucking aces at eating bitches out. Take off those leggings and let’s play doctor.” She pinches the fabric from the side of my hip and tugs them down.

“NO! Hard pass!” I laugh and turn away from her, moving to my dresser to pick up her keys then tossing them to her.

“Fine. I’ve got shit to do.” Gwen sighs. “I’m leaving the offer on the table. You are a hot piece of ass, and women need to help each other out. Especially friends. Pussy Power!”

I nod my head slowly and mouth the words ‘pussy power’ back at her. She holds up her hand for a fist bump and heads out.
