Living Under the Influence by Todd W. Schultz ~ @RABTBookTours #RABTBookTours #LivingUndertheInfluence #ToddWSchultz #Christian

Living Under the Influence by Todd W. Schultz

How Grace Sets Us Free from the Performance Mindset

Christian Living / Spiritual Growth / Inspirational

Date Published: September 2, 2025

Publisher: Lucid Books Publishing

About the Book:

The performance mindset leaves many Christians feeling stuck—working hard to please God but never quite feeling at peace. Doubts creep in, making the peace of God feel just out of reach, as if we’re playing an endless if/then game: If I do everything right, then maybe I’ll be okay with God.

Living Under the Influence shows how grace frees us from that cycle. It invites us to confront five common myths we often believe about God and ourselves:

If I pray and read the Bible more, then God will change how I feel about myself.

If I live a holy life and make good choices, then God will be pleased with me.

If my life is messy, then God won’t choose or accept me.

If I clean up my act first, then God can use me in His kingdom.

If I become a better person, then God will bless me with a better life.

If you’re a Christ-follower who genuinely wants to love God through how you live, this book offers a different lens—a way of thinking rooted not in performance, but in grace. And grace changes everything.

A Love Story

I’ve Got This by Robert Marshall

Christian Living / Nonfiction / Inspirational

Date Published: March 18, 2025

Publisher: Lucid Books Publishing

In "I've Got This: A Love Story," Mildred Marshall shares her powerful journey of faith and resilience through a sudden, life-altering cancer diagnosis. What began as a sharp pain one Friday evening in July 2012 quickly escalated into a Stage IV cancer diagnosis, with the odds stacked against her. Yet, through every painful treatment and each challenging prognosis, Mildred found peace and strength in her unwavering faith. Against all expectations, she was declared cancer-free in February 2014. Deeply moved by her journey, the Marshalls launched Voices of Hope, a ministry dedicated to supporting cancer patients physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Mildred’s story reminds us of the strength that faith and love can provide, even in the darkest times. "I've Got This: A Love Story" is a testament to the healing power of grace, community, and the guiding hand of the Great Physician.

About the Authors:

Bob Marshall grew up in a row house in South Philadelphia (Rocky's neighborhood!) before moving to southern New Jersey and later settling in Virginia Beach in 1980, where he resides today. He holds a B.A. in Economics and History from Dickinson College and an M.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from Rutgers University. A certified public accountant, he has been licensed in both New Jersey and Virginia and currently serves as a licensed chaplain at New Life Church.

From a young age, Bob developed a deep empathy and resilience through personal caregiving experiences. At age nine when his father was diagnosed with MS, he became a caregiver for him, and by age thirteen he was his primary caregiver until his father passed. In 1980, Bob married his beloved wife, Mildred, and in 2012 became her primary caregiver during her battle with Stage 4 cancer. Together, they founded Voices of Hope, a ministry dedicated to bringing peace and compassion to those facing serious illness.

Marked by resilience and compassion, Bob continues to share his journey and experiences to encourage others. Through his ministry and writing, he inspires hope, faith, and strength in those navigating life’s challenges.  To learn more about the author visit www.robertmarshallchaplain.com.

An Artist’s Cage

 Sculptors
     and painters—bringers
       of life and molds.
    Fingers feather over
   their lines and angles,
providing guiding hands
for Da Vinci or Shakespeare,
Aetion or Nikosthenes—
the Muses helped bring their
inspirations to life. A cage of color
and stone inescapable—unbreakable—
placed in a gallery for all to see.
A pillar that others should strive to achieve the
        perfection of the woman:
traditional chocolate hair with
        a lean, willowed figure,
cherry lips, painted face, shining eyes, and smiles.
The pinnacle of a natural standard of beauty—
        pretty, nice, braindead, submissive,
who relies on the Father,
       their Creator—or the Husband.
All independence erased by
white paint or another block of clay.
And the Muses, beautiful
       women who guided men,
developed the cage, building a masterful
piece of iron, entrapping their fellow sisters.

About the Author:

Avery Kilpatrick was born in Flowood, Mississippi, in April 1996. Raised in a small town in the Mississippi Delta, she has a fondness for nature and the cotton fields that create Southern snow pastures in the fall. After writing her first novel when she was thirteen, Avery decided to pursue her dream as an author at a young age.

An alumnus of Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, Avery graduated with a Bachelor’s in English. She also worked on the student-run newspaper, The Delta Statement, during her four-year career at Delta State as copy-editor and Editor-in-Chief.

Avery currently lives in a ranch-style home in her hometown in Greenwood, Mississippi. The mother of three fur babies, Cinnamon the spoiled cat, Ginger the rambunctious old lady, and Remington a.k.a. Remi the service dog, Avery has enough fur from shedding animals to make a fourth pet. When Avery isn’t busy writing her next novel, she goes on walks with her mother and dogs, watches Outlander or Criminal Minds on Netflix, or can be found curled up on the couch with Cinnamon reading a good book.
