#BookReview ~ Winter Magic at Hollybrae Castle by Jaimie Admans #Romance ~ @be_the_spark @rararesources

Winter Magic at Hollybrae Castle

A Scottish castle, a fake marriage… and one very real Christmas romance?

After a window display goes disastrously viral – thanks to a malfunctioning animatronic Santa and an unfortunate encounter with Paddington Bear – Lula Haines finds herself without a job just weeks before Christmas. So she jumps at the chance to decorate Hollybrae Castle in Scotland for the holidays.

There’s just one complication: her handsome new boss, Oliver Bracewell, needs a fake wife for the festive season. To secure a promotion that could save his family’s castle, Ollie has been pretending to be a married father-of-two to impress the family-focused firm where he works. Now his bosses are coming to stay at Hollybrae over Christmas… expecting to meet his non-existent wife and children.

At first, playing along is easy as Lula is swept up in the magic of turning Hollybrae into the perfect festive escape with Ollie. But as Christmas draws nearer and she and Ollie grow closer, Lula begins to wonder if Hollybrae could become more than a temporary escape… and if the man she’s only pretending to love might actually be the one she’s been waiting for all along.

With heaps of tartan, tinsel and Christmas magic, this uplifting romance is perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley, Heidi Swain, Cressida McLaughlin, Ellie Henderson or Jessica Redland!

My Review:

Winter Magic at Hollybrae Castle is a wonderful romance. I love the fake marriage trope. Set during Christmas, the story is magical, romantic, and festive. I loved watching Lula and Oliver navigate their fake marriage. The setting was beautifully described and the author set the scenes up so well. I love the multitude of emotions the author wove through the pages. There was laughter, tears, and love.

The characters, setting, theme, and writing style had me hooked from the first page. This book is heartwarming and fun. Grab a blanket, your favorite warm beverage, and get ready to immerse yourself into Winter Magic at Hollybrae Castle.

#BookReview ~ Finding Love at the Magical Curiosity Shop by Jaimie Admans ~ #ContemporaryRomance #Romance @be_the_spark @rararesources @BoldwoodBooks

Finding Love at the Magical Curiosity Shop

In a shop full of stories, some magic is real.

About the Book:

Mickey Teasdale loves her quaint curiosity shop, where every item feels magical to her. She loves imagining the past owners of her knick-knacks and telling her made-up tales to customers, but lately, the magic has dimmed; the shop feels cluttered, and even her stories seem as worn as the items she sells.

Everything changes when the grumpiest customer Mickey’s ever met—single dad Ren Montague—walks in with his surly teen daughter, Ava. Ren hates mess and clutter and prefers order and calm, but he'll do anything to see Ava smile. Yet, something shifts in him when he meets Mickey, who seems like she stepped out of her very own fairy tale.

When Ava discovers a secret diary, hidden from years long ago, she and Mickey believe it must have once belonged to a real-life mermaid! Ever sceptical, Ren tries to protect Ava from disappointment, but as they unravel the mystery together, something special happens…

Ren learns that happy ever afters still exist if you're brave enough to look for them, and Mickey discovers that real-life can sometimes be way more magical than anything she could have ever imagined.

My Review:

Finding Love at the Magical Curiosity Shop is an amazing book! I loved the story, the characters, the romance, well...everything. This story is so much more than a retelling of The Little Mermaid. Loosely based on a childhood favorite fairytale, the author magnificently modernized the story. My love for this book was so strong I read it in one sitting, unable to put it down. I had to know what happened between Ava and Ren and the story in the secret diary. I was hooked by the end of the first page.

Mickey is a dynamic character but her life has been filled by loss. Her curiosity shop, The Mermaid's Treasure Trove, keeps her balanced and her mind off of distressing things. However, she's lost her way with the shop but didn't realize it until one rude customer shakes the cobwebs loose. Ren and his daughter Ava suddenly appear in her shop one day. One typical 13-year-old and one typical uncool parent who are trying their best to navigate their own losses. Mickey and Ren hit if off even with their disastrous first encounter.

Two broken souls, desperate, and unknowingly drawn to one another, unite in the most fantastic romance.

A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street by Jaimie Admans ~ #Review ~ @be_the_spark @rararesources @BoldwoodBooks

A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street

A picture-perfect town; a place where dreams come true. Welcome to Ever After Street...

About the Book:

Will a kiss at midnight change her life forever?

Sadie Winters has spent her whole life doing as she’s told. But when her overbearing aunt forbids her from going to the farewell ball at the beloved local castle, Sadie has had enough!

One magical makeover, one midnight curfew, and wearing a dress of her own creation, Sadie is unrecognizable as Ever After Street's shy seamstress.

Sadie might dream of meeting a handsome prince but the only person to cross her path is Witt – the slightly awkward estate agent intending to sell the castle and dash Sadie’s dreams forever.

As the clock strikes midnight, Sadie and Witt share a magical kiss and Sadie knows her heart is in serious danger. Surely Witt must feel the same way…? Sadie can't hang around to find out.

But as reality dawns the next day, and fate brings Witt to Sadie’s door again, Sadie realises that her mystery estate agent prince has absolutely no idea who she is!

Sadie can’t forget their midnight kiss, but is she brave enough to change her life and find love along the way…?

My Review:

A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street is so much more than a Cinderella retelling. Loosely based on a childhood favorite fairytale, the author magnificently modernized the story. Of course, the story is similar but the author added in a few unique twists, gasp moments, and differences to bring readers a completely different tale. One I loved so much I read it in one sitting. The characters, setting, theme, and writing style had me hooked from the first page.

Sadie is a dynamic character with a great personality. She's not perfect, however, and doesn't do a lot of standing up for herself against her controlling aunt. Aunt Ebony is not a nice person and when you find out why there are the dynamics that there are between Ebony and Sadie, I guarantee you'll like Ebony even less. But then again, what's a fairy tale (or a retelling) without the evil character.

Will was fantastic. I loved everything about him. I used to date a guy with the same disorder and the similarities between the two allowed me to connect with Will as more than just a character inside a book. His backstory was interesting and I loved learning more about him.

I was provided a copy of this book.
