Perfect for fans of Cleo Coyle and Lucy Burdette, reporter-turned-barista Lana Lewis is back on the case when a body is dug up in the community garden.

Lana Lewis is brewing up new concoctions at Perkatory, a popular café in Devil’s Beach, when she decides she wants to try her hand at growing her own coffee. She secures a gardening plot in the community garden, thanks to her father and the garden’s owner, Darla. Darla’s list of rules is long, but that doesn’t stop someone from leaving Jack Daggett’s body amongst the gardening plots.

Jack, an environmental activist, had been banned from the garden previously, because of his many fights with Darla about organic produce. Lana promises her boyfriend, police chief Noah, that she’s going to stay out of this case, having been too involved in previous cases. But when she learns that Jack died from an accidental overdose, and Darla is the top suspect because of her shady past, Lana can't help but poke around in an attempt to clear Darla's name.

As Lana dives deeper into the case, she learns that Jack had more enemies than she realized. When Darla turns up dead, Lana has to turn up the heat on her investigation. With Lana on the case, it won’t be long before someone spills the beans to crack this case wide open. But will she able to find the killer before they strike again?

My Review:

We are back in Devil's Beach, Florida with A Bean to Die For, book four in the Coffee Lover's Mystery series! 

A Bean to Die For is a wonderful fourth book in this series. Lana is moving into harvesting her own Florida-grown coffee beans, and she knows the perfect place. The community garden is a strictly enforced farmer's market type growing area. Lana manages to secure a plot with the help of her father and the garden president, Darla. Upon arrival to view and assess her plot, the body of Jack Daggett, local citizen and fight instigator, is found dead among the previous tenant's tomato plants. Darla is the number one suspect due to a past that still haunts her. Lana gets involved to help keep Darla from going to prison. What Lana finds is a laundry list of people with grievances against Jack. 

I really enjoyed A Bean to Die For. The set-up of the mystery was carefully planned out, the number of suspects kept me guessing, and the sleuthing done in a way I would expect a former journalist to be able execute. Lana is a wonderful heroine, her father quirky, and the rest of characters well-developed. I loved the setting and the way the author described everything from the inside of the coffeeshop to the beach. Being able to envision the story as I read along is paramount to my total enjoyment and A Bean to Die For by Tara Lush knocked it out of the park.

My Review:

Eat, Pray, Hex is a fantastic first book in the Crescent Moon Mysteries. I love that the characters are in my age bracket. The story was fascinating, I enjoyed the character development and world-building. I loved the setting and the way the author described everything.

I really enjoyed Eat, Pray, Hex. The set-up of the mystery was carefully planned out and kept me guessing. Can't wait for the next book!

Laid-off journalist Lana Lewis is thriving as the proprietor of Perkatory, a coffee shop on quirky Devil’s Beach island, Florida. She’s juggling a relationship with police chief Noah Garcia, enjoying the company of her best friend, Erica, and relishing the companionship of her golden Shih Tzu, Stanley. Only problem is her neighbor, Gus, who incessantly uses his leaf blower, disturbing everyone in the neighborhood. Lana has learned to tune it out, but Erica’s rage boils over and she confronts Gus.  

Then Gus is found dead, killed when his leaf blower explodes. Erica immediately becomes suspect number one. But there are plenty of other candidates as well: Gus’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Honey Bailey, who thinks she’ll be written out of his will; Mickey Dotson and Doug Beck, who were scalded financially after purchasing a pirate-themed tourist cruise business from Gus; and plenty of angry neighbors who’ve had run-ins with him. 

As the clock ticks down will Lana get someone to spill the beans on the killer so she can clear her friend’s name, or will Erica go to jail for a crime she didn’t commit? 

My Review:

Live and Let Grind is the wonderful third book in the Coffee Lover's mystery series. Book three finds Erica temporarily staying with Lana. When their obnoxious, leaf-blowing-obsessed neighbor finally goes too far, Erica takes it upon herself to do what everyone else was thinking - she takes her complaints directly to Gus. When their little tiff gets a bit out of hand, Lana's boyfriend, Noah, the chief of police, winds up in the middle of the confrontation. With boundaries discussed, both sides go back home. All bets are off when Gus is found dead and Erica is the prime suspect.

I really enjoyed Live or Let Grind. The set-up of the mystery was carefully planned out, the number of suspects kept me guessing, and the sleuthing done in a way I would expect a former journalist to be able execute. Lana is a wonderful heroine, her father quirky, and the rest of characters all well-developed. I loved the setting and the way the author described everything from the inside of the coffeeshop to the beach. Being able to envision the story as I read along is paramount to my total enjoyment and Live and Let Grind by Tara Lush knocked it out of the park. I am so excited to see where the author takes Lana and the whole crew in the next book.

It's a steamy September, and business is brisk at Perkatory, the hottest coffee shop in Devil's Beach, FL. Much of the clientele pours in from Dante's Inferno, the hot yoga studio next door. But the bright, sunny Gulf Coast days turn decidedly dark-roast when the body of the studio's owner turns up in a nearby swamp.

 

Between running Perkatory and training Stanley, her golden Shih Tzu puppy, reporter-turned-barista Lana Lewis is too busy to go sleuthing. But when the editor of the local paper asks her to write about the murder, Lana's dreams of getting back into journalism start to percolate.

 

Lana discovers that the yogi has a nefarious past and her share of mug shots, so grinding her way through the suspect list is a large task. She learns that the victim was fatally beaned by an SUV before she was dumped in the swamp. But was the killer one of her students? An envious yoga teacher? Or a local photographer who seems to know too much?

But no one tells Lana Lewis what to do. Hunting the caf-fiend who killed the yogi puts Lana and Chief Noah's relationship--and Lana's life--in very hot coffee.


My Review and Rating:


Cold Brew Corpse is the second book in the Coffee Lover's Mystery series. The story begins almost exactly where book 1 ends. Lana is just fresh off the competition win. Perkatory is busier than ever now that word has gotten out about their success. It also helps that the new yoga studio next door, Dante's Inferno, funnels traffic their way. When the up-and-coming owner goes missing and is later found dead in The Swamp, Lana can't wait to put on her reporter's hat and get to work.

Lana discovers Raina isn't calm, cool, or collected like the image the yogi tries to portray. She has a dark past, and an even darker present. The list of suspects is a mile long and each and every person has means, opportunity, and/or motive to want to see Lana disappear. Lana's sleuthing also compromises her budding relationship with Noah. Detectives and crime reports don't seem to mix well. Lana and Noah will have to discuss boundaries and limits before their new relationship ends before it even has a chance to begin.  

I really enjoyed Cold Brew Corpse. The set-up of the mystery was carefully planned out and executed and the number of suspects kept me guessing. The sleuthing is done in a way I would expect a former journalist to be able execute. Lana is a wonderful heroine, her father quirky, and the rest of characters all well-developed. I loved the setting and the way the author described everything from the inside of the coffeeshop, to the beach as the characters visited, and everywhere Lana showed up, whether for work, fun, or sleuthing. Being able to envision the story as I read along is paramount to my total enjoyment of Cold Brew Corpse. Tara Lush knocked it out of the park. I am so excited to see where the author takes Lana and the whole crew in the next book.

My Review:

Grounds for Murder is a great first book in the new Coffee Lover's Mystery series. Lana Lewis is back in Devil's Beach, Florida after losing her job as a reporter and divorcing her husband. She's taken over management of her family's coffeeshop. When her barista and man she thought of as a friend, Fab quits without notice and begins working for the competition, Lana gives him a piece of her mind, in public. Later, Fab is found dead and Fab's on-again-off-again girlfriend accuses Lana. Together, Lana and Fab's puppy, Stanley must piece together who Fab is and what happened before her new life in Devil's Beach crashes and burns.
