About the Book:
The enemy wanted him. The galaxy needed him.
Sixty years ago Nolvarics nearly conquered the solar system. They were defeated by starfighters.
Konran dreamed of becoming a starfighter, but he blew his one shot five years ago. Now his life is stuck in neutral as a glorified rock hauler.
He didn’t expect to find Nolvarics lurking within the solar system. They didn’t expect him to survive the confrontation.
Now all eyes are on Konran as he is plunged into a whirlwind of space battles, peril, and conspiracy. The Nolvarics will stop at nothing to catch him, dead or alive.
Can Konran rise up and claim his destiny, or will the galaxy fall?
Read an Excerpt:
“Are you serious?” Natauli
demands, nearly shouting back. “You know that doesn’t apply unless there is a
definable emergency. So what is it?”
“Uh, it’s, um . . .” Alandie
stammers as Konran works the scanners more. “It’s out there. Just let us talk
to the Borboleta.”
“This is going on your records,”
Natauli mutters. The Relrick’s
ascent stops, and it begins a slow descent back toward the asteroid.
“Transmitting the code to the Borboleta,” Natauli grunts.
“Make this fast.”
“Borboleta, this is Captain Andacellos!” Konran spits into his comm.
“I need you to run a scan for me. There’s electromagnetic activity on the far
side of the asteroid. Transmitting coordinates.”
“Please repeat the request, sir,”
replies the Borboleta’s
pilot, whom Konran doesn’t even know by name yet.
Suddenly Konran’s spectral scan
jumps into the gamma-ray range, and a green light appears on the horizon,
growing larger very quickly.
“Borboleta, evade, evade!” Konran screams. He doesn’t know if
his words will make any sense. They don’t make any difference. Its final reply
is lost as green energy slams into the Borboleta,
ripping it apart with momentum before blasting it to pieces with vicious stored
energy.
An instant later, two more green
plasma balls track the Relrick.
They miss high, but they explode as they pass overhead. Their shockwaves
feel like an earthquake through the Viona
Grande’s hull. Natauli’s
scream comes shrill over the comm, and the Relrick
swerves wildly before crashing against the asteroid. A cloud of dust kicks up
and into space.
Konran’s heart thunders and his
own scream runs dry. He stares blankly at the Viona Grande’s now-obscured viewport, unable to see
anything, unable to cry, unable to breathe. Debris clatters against Viona Grande’s hull like rain on a
tin roof—whether from the Borboleta or
the Relrick, he cannot say.
There are Nolvarics here, Konran realizes, his consciousness
finally registering what his intuition already knew. He starts to
hyperventilate.
They just killed the Borboleta.
The Relrick is down.
We’re trapped.
They’ll blow us away just as easily as they did the Borboleta.
We can’t outrun them.
We can’t hide.
We can’t abandon ship.
