About the Book:
Dylan Walsh left his small town behind and vowed to never return. But when his brother needs help, Dylan steps back into the memories he tried so hard to forget. He thought there was nothing there for him anymore until a woman he knew as a little girl catches more than Dylan’s eye.
Rosie Gallo is known for her kind spirit, good-girl vibes, and her loyalty to the ones she loves. She’s spent her entire life avoiding the Walshes, knowing her father’s distaste for the family. But when Rosie’s ditched during a disastrous date, it’s a Walsh who puts a smile back on her face.
The attraction is easy, but the complications are many.
Can Dylan prove that he is more than his troubled past? Or is he as bad as the good girl next door always believed him to be?
Ashes is the ninth full-length standalone novel in the Men of Inked Heatwave series by Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Chelle Bliss. Ashes is a forbidden, age gap, small town romance featuring a hot biker and a wild ride.
My Review and Rating:Ashes by Chelle Bliss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Rosie and Dylan – opposite sides of a coin. One had a delightful childhood; the other was nothing short of a nightmare. Dylan Walsh splits as soon as he’s old enough, leaving his brothers, small town life, and an abusive father behind. When one of Dylan’s brothers needs help only Dylan may be able to provide, he finds himself back in his hometown. He also finds himself face-to-face with Rosie Gallo.
Ashes is book 9 in the Men of Inked: Heatwave series by Chelle Bliss. Ashes is also the very first book I’ve read in the series. As someone who doesn’t usually start a series in the middle, I was pulled in by the description of the book and knew I had to read it despite how far in the series Ashes falls. I was not disappointed nor was I lost. I might not know the backstory of the characters from books 1-8 but the author did an amazing job with a book that will be enjoyable for a long-time fan or a newly discovered one.
I enjoyed the inner turmoil in both Dylan and Rosie. Dylan’s continued walk through his past makes it hard for him to live in the present or think of the future. Rosie’s attraction to Dylan is going to be an issue with her family. I was pulled into their story and captivated by their personalities, drama, attempted romance, and complications. The sex is steamy, the passion is raw, and emotions permeate the pages. I had a hard time putting the book down.
