About the Book:
I should not still be hung up on my high school girlfriend.
I’m a billionaire, with a penthouse in New York City, a private plane, and was recently crowned one of Manhattan’s most eligible bachelors.
She’s engaged to my rival. A real prick of a guy whose family is about as famous as mine. So, pictures of the happy couple are plastered everywhere, and it’s driving me insane.
The last time I spoke to her was my freshman year of college, and I never imagined I’d bump into her at a crowded restaurant in the busiest city in the world. But fate had other plans, and when I innocently suggest that the press wouldn’t bother with her wedding plans if she held it in our small Alaskan town where we grew up, I had no idea she’d take me seriously.
Now, I find myself helping her plan the wedding at my dad’s luxury resort while the town’s gossip app follows our every move, afraid that their golden boy will get his heart broken twice by the same girl.
But that’s impossible because she stole my heart when we were fifteen, and never gave it back.
My Review:
The Trouble with Runaway Brides is the third book in the Lake Starlight series. Focusing on Kenzie Gavino and Lance Whitmore. Ripped apart before college, these two just went through the motions of life before being reunited. Not a happy reunion either. Kenzie is engaged to Lance's biggest rival, Will Asbury. To top this train wreck right off, Kenzie decides to move the wedding from New York to Alaska with Lance as her new wedding planner.
This second-chance romance was executed perfectly. Kenzie and Lance are wonderful characters. I loved meeting them, seeing them grow, and watching their romance unfold. The authors filled this book with tension, emotion, and passion.
The story was fantastic, the characters well-developed, and the world-building done spectacularly. I am a huge fan of Piper Rayne (they are pretty much on my "read anything I can get my hands on - without reading the blurb first" list). I was so engaged with Kenzie and Lance's story from the first paragraph. The writing, characters, setting, and story took my breath away. The Trouble with Runaway Brides and the entire Lake Starlight series are highly recommended.
I was provided a copy of this book.
