Mirror World Publishing and Sapphyria's Book Promotions present the cover reveal for
Lady by LCW Allingham

About Lady:

In the year 1464, while England recovers from the devastation of the War of the Roses, Baron Alexander FitzRoland is dying in his northern castle. His young wife, Rosalynde, recovering from the stillbirth of her first child, succumbs to despair like a dutiful lady should.

When the castle gates are threatened, only Alexander’s reputation as a brutal fighter is enough to frighten off their opportunistic enemy. The proper thing for Lady Rosalynde to do is to pray and submit to devastation. Instead, she puts on her husband’s armor and rides to the gate disguised as the baron.

From there, things only get more complicated. Between mastering the art of war, meeting with witches, struggling with self-doubt and maneuvering her complicated relationship with Alexander’s lover, Robert, Lady Rosalynde balances on the razor thin line between duty and destiny.

"No one can withstand the charm of such a mystery." - Jane Austen, Persuasion

Jane Austen mysteries have become a popular subgenre of Austen variations, but this is more than just a trend. Austen was a masterful storyteller who embedded clues within her stories for her readers to follow, inviting readers to read between the lines and "gather the evidence" to follow her intricate plotlines.

In this anthology, various authors who are also fans and admirers of Austen's work have taken the challenge to add some mystery to Austen's stories and characters. From Regency sequels to film noir retellings to cozy art heists, Crime and Culpability: A Jane Austen Mystery Anthology explores the many faces of Austen and all of her enigmas.

Featuring stories by Regina Jeffers, Riana Everly, Jeanette Watts, Michael Rands, Linne Elizabeth, Emma Dalgety, and Elizabeth Gilliland, with a foreword by Regina Jeffers and an introduction by Elizabeth Gilliland Rands.

About the Book:

Jael Ked’Korhva hadn’t anticipated becoming the galaxy’s most wanted.

He hadn’t planned on picking up a strange alien artifact, either, but once it was clasped around his wrist, Jael was granted extraordinary abilities. His senses were heightened, his reflexes faster, and he could now regenerate from damage that would spell the end for others, which was a boon, considering he was just a derelict scavenger.

That was until forces from every corner of the stars wanted Jael’s artifact for themselves, and they’ll stop at nothing to take it back. What initially appears as a boon swiftly transforms into a weighty charge. Yet, it's a charge Jael accepts without hesitation, understanding the catastrophic potential should the relic fall into the wrong hands.

Prodded onward by visions of an ancient ally and a mysterious enemy, Jael becomes a pivotal piece in a vast interstellar play of power and dominion.

An action-packed space opera, perfect for science fiction fans of Sun Eater by Christopher Ruocchio or The Mercy of Gods by James S. A. Corey.

'Tis The Damn Season by Fiona Gibson ~@FionaGibson @rararesources ~ #WomensFiction #Comedy #Drama #Holidays

'Tis The Damn Season by Fiona Gibson

This year, their families can deck the bloody halls themselves...

About the Book:

Old friends Shelley, Lena and Pearl have reached their limit with the festive preparation that has always fallen to them, and five days before Christmas, they’ve booked a mini break… without their families. Up until Christmas Eve, they’ll be sipping prosecco in the Highlands while their kids wrap bacon around 100 chipolatas and their partners brave the supermarkets.

It’s exactly what they need… until they’re snowed in. Facing the prospect of Christmas 500 miles from home, each woman is forced to confront her real reasons for needing to escape: the fiance with the obnoxious family; the son’s new girlfriend who is taking over their home; the family who take their mother for granted all year round…

Will the friends make it home before Christmas day? And if they do, can they really go back to their old lives?

This Christmas, forget Elf on the Shelf, get ready for Mums on the Run in the hilarious and heartwarming new novel from Fiona Gibson.

My Review:

'Tis the Damn Season is a wonderful book, and a perfect holiday read. Three longtime friends are at the end of their patience with husbands, children, in-laws. Each one is on their last nerve. So, five days before Christmas, the trio take a trip to Scotland and let their families sort the holidays out on their own. This little vacation was exactly what each woman needed.

I loved 'Tis the Damn Season. Written about women who are taken advantage of, overwhelmed, and frustrated with those they live with, all for different reasons, Shelly, Lena, and Pearl could be any number of women I know, including myself. The author wrote realistic family dynamics, characters with depth and emotion, and relatable situations. I couldn't help but immerse myself in this story.

This book is unputdownable. Once you start, be prepared to get nothing done as you follow Shelly, Lena, and Pearl in an adventure that is life-changing and just was the doctor ordered. The story is filled with drama, challenges, humor, twists and turns, surprises, friendship, and love. I loved the writing style, character development, and world-building. I was completely immersed in the lives of these three strong women and am glad I had the opportunity to get to meet them.

I was provided a copy of this book.

One Weekend in Barcelona by Christi Barth ~ Comedy, Contemporary Romance, RomCom, Romance ~ @christi_barth @XpressoTours #Excerpt

One Weekend in Barcelona
Christi Barth
Publication date: September 13th 2024
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary Romance, RomCom, Romance

About the Book:

Hudson Locke’s world shattered when the band he started with his best friends fell apart. Sure, he’s super successful now, subbing as a drummer for huge acts, but he wants one of his own. One he can build. A place where he can belong. But he’s only got one shot–and one weekend in Barcelona to test out potential bandmates.

Zora Rosenthal can’t fail. Not again, anyway. She’s been in 3 bands that crashed and burned. This weekend is her last chance to join one that will actually succeed. It’s vital that she impress Hudson with her incredible talent on guitar–and prove that she’s easy to get along with, also.

The problem starts when Hudson and Zora get along too well. It’d be beyond stupid to even think about getting involved.

Or kissing each other.

Or admitting all the things they want to do to each other…

On top of that, the third potential member is horrible. Will their band actually form before it falls apart? Will either one back out because of their…connection and how badly that could go once they start working together? Or will this one weekend send Hudson and Zora down a new path–together?

Add to Goodreads / Purchase of Amazon

Read an Excerpt:

“There’s a level playing field between us. We’re almost, maybe, partners, remember?”

Hudson thumbed a droplet of water off the bottom of her lip. The light touch tore through her like a lightning bolt. “I remember everything that’s happened since I walked into our suite yesterday. Everything about you.”

The air was charged. No, the individual molecules of oxygen were charged. The kiss—the one she had so stupidly initiated—had changed everything. Unlocked the professional barriers. Zora was certain that the naked want for him was obvious on her face.

She interlaced fingers with him. “We shouldn’t.”

“No. Big no.” Hudson lifted their joined hands to brush a kiss on the backs of her knuckles. Then he looked up at her from beneath tragically wasted-on-a-man long lashes. “But I will if you will.”

His boyish semi-dare made Zora laugh.

It broke all the accumulated tension.

Until she put a hand on his neck and pulled his head toward her. Then, a whole new tension permeated the deck. “I want to say yes to you.” Zora whispered the next words against his lips. “I want you.”

“We’re already in unison. That bodes well.” Hudson’s fingers dug into her hips as he propelled her to the edge of the tub. “We’re also in unison that this is probably stupid?”

“Yes.”

“Either one of us can stop at any time with no hard feelings?”

“Yes.” Zora bit back a giggle. Hard to imagine Hudson calling for a time-out to discuss the business implications. Not with all that pent-up lust darkening his eyes to indigo.

“And that, most importantly, I want you more than I want a recording contract. More than bringing John Bonham of Led Zeppelin back from the dead to jam with me for a night. More than—”

Zora leaned her forehead against his to cut him off. “No comparisons. Be in the moment. Here. Now. With me. That’s the only way this works.”

“Right.” He tugged at her loose ponytail to tip her head back. Then he angled it to the side. And scraped his teeth along where her pulse thrummed in her neck.

Huh. There was a good chance her on-loan couture dress would leave that area exposed. A hickey probably wasn’t a good accessory to meet and greet the heir to the throne.

Zora didn’t care. A hickey was the least of the problems with what they were doing, and she didn’t care about any of them. Her brain needed to turn off.

#Book #Review ~ Casket Case by Lauren Evans ~ @rararesources #Romance #CasketCase

Casket Case

He’s almost perfect.

But he works for Death.

About the Book:

Nora Clanton sells caskets. It wasn't her dream job, but it's the family business. She lives in Rabbittown, a sleepy middle-of-nowhere small community, and her only friends are decades older than her. Her life is comfortable but sometimes she finds herself wanting more.

Then Garrett Bishop turns up and sweeps her off her feet. He's handsome, charming and seems to have a good (if vague) job. There is one little thing though . . . death seems to follow him and rumours never stay buried in Rabbittown.

But when Nora finds out what Garrett has been hiding and all the ghosts left in his wake, she wonders whether it is time to lay their love to rest too . . .

Brimming with characters you cannot help but fall for, Casket Case is a heartfelt small-town romance bursting with life, heart and light. It is The Dead Romantics meets The Good Place.

My Review:

Casket Case was such a cute novel full of emotion. Nora Clanton is still grieving the deaths of her parents a year ago. She took over their casket sales business, cooping herself up either there or at home. She barely has a social life and very little desire to one out. That is, until a stranger walks through the front door, asking for directions.

Garrett Bishop is looking for one of the small-town's residents. He wasn't expecting to feel a connection with the local casket salesperson. He can't get enough of Nora and does everything he can to keep seeing her.

When Nora finds out what Garrett's job is, though, she starts questioning their entire relationship.

Casket case has a great premise. The description is what drew me in and the great characters and story kept me engaged. I love the uniqueness of the story. The characters are wonderful. I was excited at the opportunity to read the book.

I was provided a copy of this book.
