About the Book:
From Friends . . . To Lovers . . . To Soulmates.
Shane Witmer and Alyssa Harte have been best friends all their lives, but it’s been years since he’s felt more than brotherly affection for her. When Alyssa decides it’s time to actively seek a committed relationship with a man, Shane is determined to convince her that’s he’s the only man for the job, and show her that best friends make even better lovers.
My Review:
I read Meet Me at Midnight as part of the 3-book compilation titled Stroke of Midnight. The paperback features novellas by Carly Phillips, Janelle Denison, and Jacquie D’Alessandro.
Over the course of the many years that Shane and Alyssa have known each other, the best friend vibes have morphed into something else. Each is horrified at the thought of the other one dating or getting into a serious relationship. When Alyssa’s New Year’s Resolution is to finally open herself up to a relationship, Shane knows he can’t let that happen with anyone but himself. He has loved her for years but didn’t want to risk Alyssa not feeling the same way. Well, times are about to be changing.
Shane and Alyssa are super cute. Their chemistry is obvious and just crackles off the pages. I enjoyed all the time they spent together. I was engaged in this novella from the beginning and felt like I was in the story. The author did a great job with world building in Meet Me at Midnight. There wasn’t a lot of character development because the book really didn’t need any. We have two best friends who want to be more than that but are afraid to ruin the friendship or aren’t sure the other one feels the same. You don’t need a lot of back story or history for this book. The story works with what the author provided.
